Doubling and Halving Strategy

My Reflection:
I was learning the doubling and halving strategy.
I found doing the arrays for the top ones easy.
I found it a bit harder to know which numbers to double and halve.
I think I still need to work a bit more on this strategy.

Hockey Skills

My Reflection:
I was learning different hockey skills during six hockey workshops.
I found it easy to hold the stick properly.
I found it hard trying to dribble the ball.
I think I need to keep working on these hockey skills.
My favourite part was trying to bounce the ball on the hockey stick.

My Speech

My Reflection: I was learning to write a persuasive speech. I found it easy to do the fasts because there was interesting facts.  I found it hard to spell successful because it is a very long word.  I need to work on adding in some interesting facts.

Flower Artwork

My Reflection:
I was learning to create artwork using multi-media.
I found it easy to draw the arrows because you have to draw the line  and   make it pointy.
I found it  harder to draw the little half circles.
I want to work on my painting skills.

Guy Fawkes Comprehension

My Reflection:
I was learning to answer questions about Guy Fawkes using skimming and scanning.
I found it hard to write my answers in full sentences.
I found I did good at reading the information.
I think I need to work at adding more detail to my answers.

There, Their and They're Homophones

My Reflection:
I was learning about there, their and they're homophones.
Homophones are words that sound the same but they mean different things.
I found writing the meanings a bit easier. Putting the correct words in the sentences was harder because when you read the sentence you have to see which is the right word to put in so the sentence can make sense. I want to work on knowing more about homophones.

Reading Around the World Challenge

My Reflection: I was learning to research a country that was in the Olympics. I was using skimming and scanning to help me. I think I need to work on using skimming and scanning. I found it easier to research two interesting facts. I found finding out the capital city hard. I want to work on putting the research into my own words.

Retelling Timeline

My Reflection:
I was learning to retell the story. I found it tricky because it was hard to find the right words to write down. I found it easy to talk about what happened in the story. I want to work on describing the setting when I am retelling a story.

Fractured Fairytale

My Reflection:
I was learning to compare a fractured fairytale with the traditional fairytale. I found it easy to write about the ones thats not real.  I found it tricky to figure out what to write for the real one because it has a lot in it. I want to work on thinking of more information for comparing the two fairytales.

Olympic Tagul

My Reflection:
I was learning to extend my Olympic vocabulary by thinking of an Olympic related word for each letter in the alphabet.
I found it easy to figure out the sports and games that I could use for a letter easy because I saw a lot of sports.
I found  it tricky to spell the words.
I want to know more words about the Olympics.  

Number Squares

My Reflection:
I was learning to solve addition problems.
I found it easy to do the problems in the middle.
I found the problems on the outside the hardest to do.
I want to work on adding together bigger numbers.

Prediction Activity

My Reflection:
I was learning to make a prediction about the story.
I was trying to spell the words correctly. I found it tricky to make a prediction about the story.
It was good to see that I was right about my prediction.
I want to work on making sure that I am answering the question properly.

Basic Fractions

My Reflection:
I was learning to match up basic fractions.
I think I am good at fractions because I found this activity easy.
I found matching a whole, half and quarter the easiest.
I want to keep working on harder fractions with bigger numbers.

Matariki Acrostic Poem

My Reflection:
I was learning to write an acrostic poem about Matariki.
I found the letters M and K the easiest to write a sentence for because I know that when it is Matariki people fly kites. I found I the hardest letter because there was two of them.
I think I need to work on thinking of ideas if there are two of the same letters.

Bike Skills and Rugby Skills

My Reflection:
I was learning to compare two events in my writing.
I found it hard to brainstorm my ideas.
I found it easy to use full sentences in my writing.
I want to work on using paragraphs when I write.

Retelling Timeline

My Reflection:
I was learning to retell a story.
I found it hard to put the story in order.
I found writing about the part where Timo found his pants the easiest because I read about him remembering it was in his bag.
I want to work on checking my spelling.

Pepeha Art

My Reflection:
I was learning to create a visual  representation of my Pepeha.
I found it hard to colour in all the white spaces.
I liked doing the river because you got to do the swirls and you get to color in the river. I want to work on drawing my shapes to make them the same.

Sentences

My Reflection:
I was learning about different types of sentences. I found the simple sentences easy. I want to work on my spelling.

Te Tuhi Visit

My Reflection:
In Term 1 I went to Te Tuhi. We did the Wish You Were Here workshop. This is my picture. I enjoyed painting it.

The Hut in the Old Tree.

My Reflection: I was learning to respond to my book. I found it hard to figure out the answers. I want to work on doing the answers faster and my sentences.

Splitting Numbers

My Reflection:
I was working on splitting my numbers to reach ten. I found it easy because when there is a ten you will know what is left. I need to work on the big numbers when it make another ten.

My Welcome Post 2016

Welcome to my Year 4 learning blog. This year I am in Room 13 and my teacher is Miss Kulik.  I  enjoy doing jump jam. This year I am looking forward to learning now things. I hope you will enjoy my blog and leave lots of feedback.
